STUDY GROUP

I bored Lady to sleep while studying up a bit for tonight's group.

Lady and I decided why not practice what we preach and get some Vitamin D. We studied about the brain's function and reaction with depression and what we can do to improve and prevent the damage. A few hours in the back yard on a blanket with the sun warming our bodies was therapeutic and a good stress reducer. Can't wait for Hope Group tonight. I hope I'll be a little less nervous this week.

Oh ya,
Kash helped us study too :)

NEW ADVENTURE... "SHARING HOPE"

I am very open about my past struggles with depression. I have always felt the desire to share my story in hopes that it will help others gain insight and understanding of those of us who have been affected by it. I am well aware of the social stigma that depression and anti-depressants carry in this state. I am open because I want to help others that fall victim to the stigma as well as stand up to the people who haven't yet been educated.
I faced chronic depression for over 13 years, and then I became what I call a "self advocate and active participant" in finding a way to fight my depression and gain control of my LIFE. I started attending psychopharmacology conferences, women's groups, seeing a counselor and life coach, and researching medications and behavioral changes. I learned what I needed to do to LIVE again.

Anyway, long story short.... I'm finding a new way to help others. I'm joining my inspirational friend and past therapist, to start a HOPE GROUP. I want to share with other women the HOPE that I have found in the last 4 years of my life. I will be co-teaching, sharing, and hosting an 8 week women's group. I am SO EXCITED! We'll be discussing topics such as nutrition, medications, exercise, counseling, and more... in an intimate and caring setting.

More info to follow. If you or anyone you know could use some HOPE in their life and would like to be a part of our group.... please email me.
